The official unveiling of Ankara fabrics for the 2026 Isiu Eweye Day and a Declaration Walk, led by His Royal Majesty, Oba Olukayode David Raji, Eweye of Isiu, marked the beginning of this year’s annual celebration which usually brought stakeholders, residents and invited guests together for development of Isiu in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu Division, Southwest, Nigeria.
Oba Raji, when unveiling the celebration fabrics on last weekend, declared the commencement of the celebration at his palace with his chiefs; chieftains and members of the Isiu Eweye Development Association, the organisers of the annual event; other stakeholders and residents in attendance.
Eweye of Isiu acknowledged the contributions of elected political office holders and other stakeholders to the developments that Isiu has been experiencing since his emergence as the traditional head and natural ruler of the community.
The annual celebration was designed as an avenue for sons, daughters and residents of Isiu to come together, celebrate, showcase and promote their cultural heritage, strengthen unity and contribute collectively to development of the community.
The royal father mentioned Senator Tokunbo Abiru, the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, representative of Ikorodu federal constituency and Hon. Ameen Apanisile, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Mayor Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile specifically, for commendations in their efforts to develop Isiu.
Oba Raji, also acknowledged the Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, Baba Oba of Isiu Kingdom and the Chairman, MultiChoice Nigeria, for his remarkable contributions and impact and many other individuals and groups.
Dr. Haruna Ishola Balogun, Coordinating Vice Chairman of ISEDASS, speaking, said that the Declaration Walk and unveiling are activities designed to herald the 2026 Isiu Eweye Day Celebration, emphasising that the walk is designed to create awareness and sensitise the sons and daughters of Isiu and its residents on the annual celebration.
He listed other programmes as health outreach, sporting competitions, legal clinic, artisans and market women days among others as some of the programmes also earmarked for the celebration with the grand finale scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026.
According to Otunba Tunde Ogunberu, Otunba of Isiu Kingdom, residents, and friends of Isiu should be expecting more activities that are designed to promote unity, peace and community development. He added that Oloja Day, would be held in the morning of the grand finale with chieftains and members of market associations across Ikorodu Division expected to grace the occasion.
While calling for collaboration and support for the community during the celebration and beyond, Otunba Ogunberu also urged residents to shun violence and other acts that may be counter productive to Isiu Community.
Also speaking, Asiwaju Olawale Ogunbela, Second Vice Chairman of Isiu Eweye Development Association, disclosed that a piece of land has been secured as playing ground for the community and dedicated for youth engagements especially.
Other speakers like Hon. Jimoh Iliasu, Deputy Leader of Ikorodu North LCDA; and Mr. Segun Alimi, Secretary ISEDASS among others, called on residents to give their maximum support and cooperation, assuring them of engaging and memorable activities.
Alhaji Sulaimon Alao Malaika, a prominent and leading Fuji musician is billed to perform at the 2026 Isiu Day grand finale.
